Community Programs

Serving Waconia, MN area for 3 years

The City of Waconia is both a picturesque and growing community nearing 10,000 people with the center of town located near the southwestern shoreline of the largest lake in Carver County, known as Lake Waconia. Situated approximately 30 minutes from the Twin Cities metropolitan area, and the next large community west of suburbs like Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, and Chaska, Waconia has experienced extensive residential and business growth over the past eight years.

Waconia is the home to a major regional medical center, county fairgrounds, with a private college also located nearby. Given the reality of freeway expansion from the Twin Cities to areas just south Waconia, and anticipated significant retail development, the city will continue experience steady growth for years to come. Dating back to the late 1800’s until today Waconia has emphasized a strong recreational flavor centered around the second largest lake in the seven county metro area. Typical swimming, boating, and fishing for sure, but Lake Waconia is also a well known wind surfing and sail boarding hot spot.

Waconia has sought to maintain a small town atmosphere amidst the reality of demographic growth. As a result, Waconia employs many people from surrounding communities while at the same time seeing many others commute toward the metropolitan area for work and other activities. As a ministry, Timber Bay seeks to build long-term relationships with young people, touching the lives of families as well, in this western portion of Carver County with Waconia at the heart. We look forward to growing this ministry to young people and adding staff and volunteer workers in the process.
